Established 1948    Sherman - Funeral services for Willie Jacobs were held Saturday morning, April 21, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Sherman. Burial followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Willie Bate Jacobs was born on December 10, 1934 on Mastin Ranch near Grandview, Texas and went to be with the Lord April 18, 2018 in Sherman, Texas at home. He served in the Army from 1957-1959. He worked for the Sherman Democrat before working at Austin College as director of the news bureau, public relations. alumni association and sports information from 1960-1976. Since 1975 Willie has worked as an independent insurance agent. Willie worked February 2003-2007 as interview coordinator at the NFL combine, Indianapolis, Indiana. Willie was a member of the rockabilly band, the Strikes from 1956-1957. He was also sponsor of the Phi Sigma Alpha fraternity while employed at Austin College.
