Sherman - Services for Ethyl Louise Holcomb were held Monday afternoon, August 16, 2010 at North Park Baptist Church.  Rev. David Murphy of the church officiated.  Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.  Mrs. Holcomb passed away August 13, 2010 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital - WNJ in Sherman.  Pallbearers were A.C. Hickman, Hubert Long, Ronnie Capps, Jerry Collins, Danny Denton and Sean Waters.  Waldo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Ethyl was born March 7, 1916 in Knoxville, Tennessee, daughter of Charles G. and Alice Mabel McCloud Capps, Sr.  She married Homer E. Holcomb on February 11, 1937 in Sherman; they were married for 73 years.
As a life long member of North Park Baptist Church, Ethyl began working in the church at a very young age.  Over the years Mrs. Holcomb worked in the church nursery, taught Sunday School, led the GAs Program and was active in the church's tape ministry.  She and her husband were a devoted Christian couple,  Mrs. Holcomb enjoyed cooking and gardening.
She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Donna Kay Allen of Cedar Hill; granddaughter, Donna Shantel Allen of Palmer; grandson, Tad Lee Allen and wife, Lesia, of Cedar Hill'; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters, Edna Mae Mitchell; Zella Hickman; and Mary Charles Loftice; and 2 brothers, Walter Capps and C.G. Capps, Jr.

Sherman - Funeral services for Homer E. Holcomb were held Saturday afternoon, January 21, 2012 at North Park Baptist Church.  Rev. David Murphy of the church officiated.  Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Ronnie Capps, Howard Waters, Jerry Collins, Shiloh Bredburg, David Colbert and David Plyler serving as pallbearers.  Mr. Holcomb, 95, passed away Wednesdqay, Januay 18, 2012 at the Duncanville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Homer was born July 17, 1916 in Sherman, son of Jonathan and Carrie Calhoun Holcomb.  On February 11, 1937 he and Ethyl Capps were married in Sherman and were married more than 73 years until Ethyl passed away in 2010.  Mr. Holcomb worked many years at Mrs. Tucker's Foods and Hardwicke-Etter.  He and Ethyl were longtime members at North Park Baptist Church where Homer served as a deacon for more than 60 years.  Homer was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed hunting.
Mr. Holcomb is survived by his daughter, Kay Allen of Cedar Hill; 2 grandchildren, Shan Allen Nehib and husband, Greg, of Palmer; and Tad Lee Allen and wife, Lesia, of Cedar Hill; 2 great-grandchildren, Amber Kay Allen of Cedar Hill and Jenna Lee Hungaski and husband, Michael, of Cedar Hill; one great-grandchild, Blake Lee Hungaski; several nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; several brothers and sisters; and one son-in-law, Bobby Allen.
