Helen Hopper went to be with the Lord on April 18, 2009 surrounded by her children and grandchildren.  After an extended illness, she is now at peace.  
Helen was born February 4, 1921 in Mena Arkansas, daughter of William Nicholas Martin and Eliza E. Callahan Martin.  She was the youngest of 12 children.  She graduated from Mena High School in 1940.  She held several jobs during World War II.  She married Earl R. Hopper, Sr. on January 5, 1943, while he was home on leave.  Helen loved to read and talk politics.  She loved to sew clothes for her daughters and herself.
She is survived by daughters, Virginia Hall and husband, David, of Sherman; and Susan K. Hopper of Sherman; and her son, Earl R. Hopper and wife, Janet, of Duncanville; 3 grandsons, Martin David Hall and wife, Teresa, of Sherman; Christopher Hopper of Arlington; and Matthew Hopper of Austin; and 2 granddaughters, Elizabeth Hall of Sherman and Allison Hopper of Duncanville; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 5 brothers, John, Monroe, William, Paul and Walter; and her sisters, Goldie Dixon, Bertha Martin, Lina Lee Card, Irene Wimberly, Mildred Wajdowicz, and Jean Cox.
Graveside services were held Wednesday afternoon, April 22, 2009 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
If desired, memorials may be made to donor's favorite charity.
