Harold Herman Harrison passed away June 23, 2021 at Nanaw's Place Assisted Living in Denison, Texas.  Harold's life began on August 14, 1924 in Dallas, Texas, son of John Travis Harrison and Mary Opal Harrison.
As a boy in Dallas, Harold shared fond memories with his family of his younger years of playing football and kickball with friends in the neighborhood from sun up to sun down.  At age 19 Harold joined the Navy in 1943 during World War II.  While in the Navy, he a Seaman First Class/Radio Operator of the Navy Armed Guard of which the purpose of the guard was to man the deck guns of merchant ships to provide a nominal defense against attack.  Luckily, Harold did not see much action but spent a lot of his time in the Philippines and in the South Pacific.
Shortly after the end of World War II in 1946, Harold returned to Dallas and returned to his job as a Freight Clerk at the MK&T Railroad.  Upon his return, he began dating Bertha Mae Londenberg, the little sister of one of his longtime neighborhood friends.  Harold and Bertha were married August 17, 1946 and were married 35 years and had 6 children before Bertha's passing to cancer in 1981.   Harold and Bertha, along with their 3 older children moved from Dallas to Denison when Harold relocated with the MK&T Railroad in 1959.  Harold remained with MK&T Railroad for 47 years until retiring in 1988.
In 1984 Harold married Mavis O'Rear and unfortunately lost her to cancer as well in 1986, after a brief 2 year marriage.
On November 21, 1986 Harold married Vera Jewell from Denison, Texas.  Harold and Vera's marriage was one filled with many blessings and experiences.  They traveled all over the United States in their RV, along with being members and officers of the Dudes and Dolls Square Dance Club.  Harold and Vera had been devoted members of their church, Southside Baptist Church.
Harold had a passion for helping people and after retirement, he delivered Meals on Wheels for over 20 years until he was 91 years old.  He would tell his kids, "I'm delivering meals to the old people" but if truth be told, the people on his route were all younger than him.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Bertha and Mavis; and brother, Ray.
He leaves behind his wife, Vera, of 35 years; sons, Greg (late Betty/Nancy) Harrison; Randy (Vicki) Harrison; Gary (Debbie)  Harrison; daughters, Julie (Randy) Hamby; Angela Anderson; Suzanne (Kevin) Mattison; stepson, Stan Trimm and stepdaughter, Rita Calhoun.
