Melba Virginia Bateman Homer was born September 5, 1928, daughter of Arthur Hamilton Bateman and Myrtle Sweat Bateman in Bonham, Texas.  She was the baby girl wotj 5 older brothers.  They lived in Ivanhoe, Texas.  Melba graduated from Bonham High School.
In 1958 she and her parets moved to Ft. Worth, Texas.  Melba worked  for a company in the bookkeeping department.  She acquired additional bookkeeping training in business school.
At the age of 39 she met and married George Homer Jr.and moved to Denison.  She opened a poodle grooming shop.  Later she and George opened George Homer Brokerage where they sold livestock feed and seeds.  They enjoyed their horses and their dogs.  George passed away in 2005.  Melba moved to Sherman in 2007.  She atte4nded a Baptist church.
Melba went to be with the Lord Saturday, November 13, 2021 while living in Stonebrook Assisted Living.  A sweetness came to Melba and the rough edges ceased.  As the years progressed, Melba spoke that Jesus was her Savior.  She was ready to be with the Lord.
Graveside services were held Wednesday morning, November 17, 2021 at Cedarlawn Memorial Pair in Sherman, Texas. - - -Fisher Funeral Home
