Funeral services for Georgia Maxine Hagan were held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 22 in the Chapel on the Hill at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Rev. Louella Williams officiated. Pallbearers were Jason Whitworth, Adam Whitworth, Bo Binder, Bailey Binder, Thor Hoppess, Bobby Hardin, and Taylor Hardin. Mrs. Hagan, 91, passed away Tuesday, July 19 at the McKinney Healthcare Center.
Georgia Maxine Mehlhorn was born September 10, 1924 in Oakdale, Tennessee to the late George and Emma (Summers) Mehlhorn. There she spent her early years before relocating with her family to Sherman, Texas. Eventually the family relocated to Denton where Maxine graduated from Denton High School. It was there that she met the love of her life, Billy G. Hagan. They eventually married on July 8, 1945 in Oceanside, California where Billy was serving in the Marine Corp. They returned to Sherman where they devotedly raised their three daughters. Maxine was always very active in their school years serving as president of several local PTA’s. She also was active in their Blue Bird and Camp Fire organizations.
Mrs. Hagan is survived by three daughters, Pam Green and husband Terry of Sherman, Brenda Whitworth and husband Steve of McKinney, and Kellie Barnes and husband Rick of McKinney; six grandchildren, Monique Hoppess and husband Thor, Hillary Hardin and husband Bobby, Dr. Jason Whitworth and wife Ashley, Adam Whitworth and wife Sharee, Bo Binder and wife Carrine and Bailey Binder; nine great grandchildren, Hagan and Madison Hoppess, Taylor and wife Christian, Sydney Hardin, Cale, Dane, Lexi, and Luke Whitworth, and Amy Lynn Binder; one sister-in-law, Nelda Wickes of Garland and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hagan was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister and brother-in-law, Lorene and Murray Jenson.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the McKinney Healthcare Center for the loving care that they provided. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Sherman at 401 N. Elm, Sherman, TX 75090.
