DEATHS
Funeral services for Sam Hopper, 79, were held at Bratcher Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock.  Rev. Ed. Broome, former pastor of Parkside Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Hopper died in Madonna hospital Saturday, December 6, at 7:05 p.m. after an illness of three months.  He had been in the hospital one day.
He was born in Tennessee in 1879, the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Hopper.  He lived in Ambrose before coming to Denison 32 years ago.  He operated grocery stores at various places in Denison for many years.  He was married October 20, 1895, to Miss Ada Hopper at Tom Bean.  He was a member of Parkside Baptist Church.
Survivors are his widow, 705 W. Texas; one son, Vernie Hopper of Lawton, Oklahoma; two daughters, Mrs. Eva Vincent, Denison, and Mrs. Alma Hicks, Dallas; four brothers, John Hopper of Van Alstyne; D.M. Hopper of Denison; Clint and Dolphus Hopper of Desert; four sisters, Mrs. Willie Moran, Denison; Mrs. Lee Caraway, Sherman; Mrs. Dave Burks, Anna; and Mrs. George Ball of Whitewright; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
