Bob Honeycutt, 77, passed away on February 8, 2010, at WNJ Medical Center. Dannel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 12, at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, with Rev. Leland Samuelson officiating.
Bob was born in Sherman on July 19, 1932, to Marvin and Bertha Bly Honeycutt. He grew up here and graduated from Sherman High School in 1951. When Bob was born he weighed only 2-1/2 pounds. His father died when he was only 2 years old, so his mother raised him and his siblings all by herself. He was devoted to her his entire life. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
Bob served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956 as a chaplain assistant and lived in Japan for 2-1/2 years where after serving his tour of duty he learned to speak Japanese. Bob attended the Dallas Art Institute and completed his associates degree in art. He then returned to Sherman and worked at Community Hospital through all of their moves and different locations, retiring after many years of service.
An avid reader, he loved art and wrote beautiful poetry. In retirement he enjoyed many hours of games and fellowship with his friends at the Sherman Senior Center at Scott Circle. He was a great listener and always took time to help others. A good conversationalist, he was well informed on many subjects.
Preceding Bob in death were his parents, one brother and six sisters.
He is survived by one sister, Gladys Perkins of Sherman; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends at Scott Circle Senior Center, including Mickie, Gary, Annette, and Vernon.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Homestead of Sherman for making Bob feel welcome and attending to all his needs, as well as the doctors and staff at Wilson N. Jones Hospital and Home Hospice of Grayson County.

Since Bob enjoyed reading so much, memorials may be made to your local library.
