Jimmy D. Hawkins
1934 - 2021

Tommie Sue Hawkins went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2017 at Texoma Medical Center.
A celebration of life was held Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel.  A graveside service followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Tommie Sue was born September 8, 1938 in Allison, Oklahoma, daughter of Tom and Sue Bennett Fields.  She attended Achille High School and was part of the girls' basketball team.  It was in AHS where her life would be changed forever.
She met the love of her life, Jimmy Hawkings, and they were married July 24, 1952.  They began their 61 years of marriage in Greenville, Texas.  With Jimmy being an active serviceman of the U.S. Air Force, the next 20-plus years were spent in Louisiana, Florida, Montana, Newfoundland, California and Hawaii.  Upon returning from Hawaii, Tommie Sue began her 29 years career at the Sherman K-Mart and Super K-Mart where she ultimately retired in 2003.  While working at K-Mart, she took time each year to load up the grandchildren and take them to see the sights in the family RV, from Missouri to Las Vegas and everywhere in between.
After retirement, she was able to devote her time to some of her passions, such as working in the yard, loving on grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cooking, cheering on the Texas Rangers almost every game, and getting her hair done so she could go sit next to Jimmy at Choctaw - hoping to hit it big!
She is survived by her husband; daughter, Judy Sue Hawkins; son, James Dale Hawkins; brother, Kenneth Fields; grandchildren - Lucas (Melissa) Hawkins, James Garcia and Jessica Garcia; great-grandchildren - Briana, Deuce, Victoria, Malyssa Sue, and Jax; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law; and grandchildren, Jacob and Micah Hawkins.
Pallbearers were James Garcia, Lucas Hawkins, Deuce Stapleton, Box Cox, David Estes, and Lee Saylors. - - - Bratcher Funeral Home

Jimmy Dale Hawkins went to be with the Lord on September 15, 2021 at Texoma Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday morning, September 20, 2021 at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel, Denison, Texas.  A graveside service followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman, Texas.  Pallbearers were James Garcia, Lucas Hawkins, Bob Cox, John Scott, David Estes, and Zip Tarver.
Jimmy was born November 28, 1934 in Lone Oak, Texas, son of Jessie T. and Essie Bell Creel Hawkins.   He attended Achille High School.  It was at AHS where he met the love of his life. Tommie Sue Fields. They were married July 24, 1956 in Greenville, Texas, starting 61 years of love together.
After high school, Jimmie enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he proudly served for 20 years.  During his time in the military, he and Tommie were stationed in many different places - Louisiana, Florida, Montana, Newfoundland, California and Hawaii, just to name a few. He retired from the Air Force in 1975 as a Master Sergeant, and after retirement, Jimmy went to work for the U.S. Post Office where he was a mailroom clerk for 16 years until his retirement in 1992.  After that, Pawpaw found severeral ways to stay busy.  Everything from helping Mawmaw around the house to taking the grandchildren on vacation, driving the short trip to Choctaw to enjoy crab legs, and even building fences with his friends with the "Old Farts Fencing Company."  When the grandchildren needed anything, Pawpaw was there - from cars to cash, to advice you may or may not have asked for (but needed to hear!), everyone always knew they could count on him.
He is survived by his loving children: daughter, Judy Sue Hawkins and son, James Dale Hawkins.  Grandchildren: James Garcia and wife, Leigh Ann; Lucas Hawkins and wife, Melissa; and Jessica Garcia. Great-grandchildren: Brianna, Deuce, Victoia, Lysell and Jax.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Tommie; his parents; and grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob and Micah Hawkins. - - - Fisher Funeral Home
