Joan L. Russell Goss passed peacefully from thi slife into Eternity with her Savior on Thursday, January 14th, just one day shy of her 80th birthday.  She was born on January 15, 1936 to Thomas Willoughby Russell and Callie Leota Russell in Rice, Texas.  She graduated from Wilmer Hutchins High School and married James Andrew Goss, with whom she had two daughters.
Joan was employed as a Human Resources Director at various hotels and was a past member and officer of the Hotel/Motel Association of Human Resources.  Joan was a successful, independent career woman, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Aunt and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.  
She is preceded in death by her parents, her former husband, and her brothers, A.L. "Jack", Lloyd and Leon Russell.
She is survived by a brother, Leroy Russell of Mabank; her daughters, Denise Ann Duffer and husband Donnie of Sherman, Darla Dale Neill and husband Donnie of Van Alstyne; grandchildren, David Andrew "Drew" Duffer and wife Amanda of Nashville, Tennessee; Cody Dale Lackey and girlfriend, Jennifer Wall of Denison; Brandi Dale Gray and husband Jezy of Oklahoma City; four step-grandchildren, Tonya Melton, Donnie Duffer, Jr., Nathan & Natalie Neill; and great-grandchildren, Austin David Duffer, Audrey Payton Duffer and Clara Alice Duffer; six step-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.  
Services for Joan were held on Saturday, January 16th at 11:30 a.m.at West Sherman Baptist Church and officiated by her beloved Pastor, Bro. Danny Woods.  A meal and reception followed at the church.  A private entombment toke place at a later date.  
Funeral services were under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory, 637 W. Van Alstyne Pkwy., Van Alstyne, Texas.
