Funeral services for Kenneth Gregory Gatewood, 60, of Sherman, Texas were Tuesday morning, February 19, 2008 at the Chapel on the Hill at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Sherman. Services were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman. 

He passed away on Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Wilson N. Jones Medical Center. 
He was born on Wednesday, August 13, 1947, in Washington, DC, son of Kenneth W. and Virginia R. . . . 
Greg Marilyn Barnett and husband, Dale, of Denison, Texas; 2 brothers, Mike Gatewood and wife, Melissa, of Los Angeles, California; Robert Gatewood and wife, Patricia, of Sherman, Texas; 3 nieces, April Gatewood of California, Lisa Barnett of Denison, Texas; Sean Maree Gatewood of Sherman, Texas; 3 nephews, Kenneth M. Gatewood of California, Joseph Barnett of Denison, Texas and Billy Gatewood of Sherman, Texas. He is also survived by his great nephew Ayden Reed Barnett of Denison, Texas; 2 aunts, Genieve Falgout of New Orleans, Louisiana; and Jeannie Haas of Kiln, Mississippi; and a host of friends and other family. 

The family requests donation be made to the Texas Cancer Center in Sherman, Texas. 
Kenneth attended Grayson County College and later received his Bachelors Degree from North Texas State University. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for 20 years before retiring as Master Sergeant. He was a Vietnam Veteran and he was also an Eagle Scout. 
Kenneth is survived by his father and mother, Kenneth W. and Virgina R. Gatewood, of Sherman, Texas.


Sherman - A Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia Ray Gatewood was held Monday morning, August 29 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.  Rev. Jeremy Myers officiated.  Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Gatewood, 90, passed away Thursday August 25 at Texas Health Presbyterian-WNJ.
Virginia was born June 28, 1921 in Sour Lake, Texas, daughter of Samuel and Leona Conklin Gregory. She graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont and Lamar University. On July 3, 1946, Virginia married Kenneth Gatewood in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Virginia was a devoted and loving wife. She and Kenneth proudly celebrated their 65th anniversary this past July. Mrs. Gatewood worked at Whopper Stopper Lures for over 25 years and was a longtime member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed watching soap operas.
 Mrs. Gatewood is survived by her husband, Kenneth, of Sherman; daughter, Marilyn Barnett and her husband, Dale, of Denison; 2 sons, Michael Gatewood and his wife, Melissa, of Los Angeles; and Robert Gatewood and his wife, Pat, of Sherman; 9 grandchildren, Kenneth Gatewood, April Gatewood, Joe Barnett, Lisa Munson, Brian Barnett, Kenneth William Gatewood III, Sean-Maree Ray Gatewood, Jean Ann Reynolds, and Michelle Alice Reynolds; and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kenneth Gregory Gatewood; one brother; and one sister.
