Ruth Green, 93, of Denison, Texas passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at  8:30 p.m.  Funeral services were held Friday morning, July 18, 2014 at Morton Street Church of Christ in Denison, Texas.  Brother Jerry Spradlin officiated.  Burial was at Cedarlawn Cemetery following the service.  Pallbearers were David W. Davis, Ely Gordon, Jerry Brown, James Gray, Joshua Gray, and Cliff Gray.  
Ruth was born September 28, 1920 in Whitewright, Texas, daughter of James Grover Cleveland Brown and Nina Thrasher Brown.  She had 6 brothers and one sister. Brothers - Grady Carl Brown, James Roscoe Brown, GC Brown, Billy Earl Brown, Jerry Brown and John Brown.  Sister - Robbie Mae Brown Neal.
In 1939 she married the love of her life, Jesse P. Green and moved to Denison where she raised 4 children, 3 sons and a daughter.  Sons, Clyde Ray Green, Jesse Wayne Green, and James Earl Green and daughter, Nina Elizabeth Green.  Her daughter, Nina, had 3 children, daughters, Laura Ruth and husband, Ely Gordon; and Robin Elizabeth and husband, Cliff Gray; and son, David W. Davis.  
Son James Green had 2 children, a daughter, Ava, and son, Steve Owen Green.
Ruth worked as an LVN at Madonna Hospital and Texoma Medical Center before retiring in 1982.  She was an avid gardener and wonderful cook who grew many of the vegetables that she used in her recipes. She attended Morton Street Church of Christ.
Great-grandchildren are Lauryn Gordon, Natalie Gordon, James Gray, Joshua Gray, Alaina Gray and Devon Moore.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers - Grady, Bill, Roscoe, & GC; sister, Robbie Mae, 1996; son, Clyde, 1969; husband, Jesse, 2005; and grandson, Steve, 2010.
Ruth was a kind, sweet woman who was loved by all who knew her.

KILLED IN ACTION
Funeral services for Sgt. Ray "Sonny" Green, 29, who was killed in action in Vietnam, Monday afternoon, May 12, 1969 when his advanced training base was overrun by the Viet Cong, where held Thursday, May 22, 1969 at the Nazarene Church in Denison with Rev. W.W. Cummins, pastor, officiating.  Full military honors were held with burial at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Sgt. Green, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse P. Green, 627 East Heron, Denison, and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Grover C. Brown of Whitewright was assigned to the 85th advanced training outfit and had been in Vietnam since March 1.  His parents had been notified of his death May 15.
He was born in Whitewright January 29, 1940.  Green attended Denison schools before entering the Army April 1, 1957 at the age of 17.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Nina Davis of Waco; 2 brothers, Jesse Wayne, who is serving in the Air Force, and James Earl, who is an instructor at the University of Tennessee at Martin, Tennessee.
Sgt. Green's father is owner of the Belmont Fence Company in Denison and his mother is a vocational nurse at Madonna Hospital.

SGT. CLYDE RAY GREEN
Denison - Services were held Thursday afternoon at the Nazarene Church for Sgt. Clyde Ray Green, killed in Vietnam war action.
Rev. W.W. Cummins officiated with burial in Cedarlawn Memorial Park with full military services.  Bratcher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
