Vernon Thomas Glover was a loving father and husband, who had many friends in the Pottsboro community.  Vernon passed away Saturday, May 20, 2000 at his residence.
Graveside services were held Tuesday afternoon, May 23, 2000 in Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Brick James officiating.
Vernon was born September 7, 1923 at Lepanto, Arkansas, son of Orval Teats and Florence Irene Judkins Glover.  He attended school in Lepanto, Arkansas.  Mr. Glover married Athlene Wilson on July 3, 1944 in Lepanto, Arkansas.  He was a cotton farmer and later worked for the Weber Bakery Co., then went to work for Colonial Bread Co. as a Supervisor in Los Angeles, California, retiring and moving to Pottsboro in 1976.  He was a member of the Hagerman Baptist Church.
Mr. Glover is survived by his wife; daughters, Marcia Gail Hicks of Fontana, California; and Karen Spalding of Chesterfield, Missouri; brothers, Earnie Glover of Black Oak, Arkansas; Bob Glover of Lepanto, Arkansas; Alan Glover of Washignton state; and Jim Glover of Laguna Hills, California; sister, Marge Hatley of Marked Tree, Arkansas; and 4 grandchldren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and younger brother, Bill Glover.
Pallbearers were Dwight Grimes, Bert Brymer, Larry Guilloud, Ronnie Ballard, Reubin Chambers and Glenn Thurston.
Memorials may be made to the Hagerman Baptist Church.
Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel was in charge of arrangements.


Cleatus Athlene Glover, 79 year old former Pottsboro resident, died Sunday, November 18, 2001, in Chesterfield, Missouri.
Graveside services were held Tuesday morning, November 27, 2001 in Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Brick James officiating.
Mrs. Glover was born on June 1, 1922 in Greenbrier, Arkansas, daughter of Arvil Lenox and Loye Opal Allen Wilson.  She married Vernon Thomas Glover on July 3, 1944 in Marked Tree, Arkansas.  He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Glover retired from Texas Instruments as a chipmaker and was well respected by her supervisors and peers.  She was a licensed cosmotologist and an accomplished seamstress.  Gardening and artistic crafts were hobbies she enjoyed.  She was a member of Hagerman Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Marcia Gail and Bill Hicks, of Fontana, California; and Karen and Jan Spalging, of St. Louis, Missouri; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mayrene and Bill Cheek of Denison; and Aldene and Joe Kolatis of Moscow, Pennsylvania; sister, Brenda Wilson of New Orleans, Louisiana; and 4 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Lucy McLain.
Memorials may be made to 4519 Refuge Rd., Sherman, Texas.
