Funeral services for Dorothy Helen Gross were held Wednesday morning, November 9, 2011 at Waldo Funeral Home. Brother Kevin King officiated and burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Gross, 87, passed away Saturday November 5, 2011 at the Texoma Healthcare Center.
Dorothy was born November 21, 1923 in Winnsboro, Texas, daughter of James and Blanche (Martin) Hill. She went to work at the original Texas Instruments on Lemmon Avenue and worked in quality control for 38 years. She was highly respected and recognized as a quality individual in everything she did on the job. She was so well thought of; the TI CEO even came to her retirement party. Dorothy was a member of the Tom Bean Church of Christ and had previously served on the Tom Bean City Council. Dorothy married Johnny Gross on January 4, 1953 in Sulphur Springs, Texas, and enjoyed 48 years together before he passed away in 2001.
Mrs. Gross is survived by one daughter, Latricia Gentry of Lakewood, California; 4 sons, John W, Gentry, Jr. and wife, Gaye, of Pottsboro; James Gentry of Plano; Steve Gentry and wife, Gail, of Sherman; and Rick Gross and wife, Faye, of Wichita Falls; 9 grandchildren, Barry Todd Gentry of Colorado Springs; Angie Bullard of Collinsville; Billy Bailey of Allen; Rick Gross, Jr of Malvern, Arkansas; J.R. Barbour of Little Elm; Matthew Gentry of Sherman; Jason Gentry of Plano; and Aaron Gentry of Sherman; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Margie Kubiak and Frances Sassie; and husband, Johnny L. Gross.
