Ellis King "Al" Green, 93, of Sherman, Texas passed away on July 17, 2012 in Sherman.  Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. July 21st at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jim Pledger officiating.  Private family burial took place in Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Al was born in Clayton, New Mexico on January 5, 1919 to Joe John and Tinnie Elizabeth Jarmon Green.  A graduate of Borger High School, he served in the US Army Signal Corps in the Pacific Theater for 4-1/2 years during World War II.  He married Armene Brazil on March 15, 1941 in Stinnett, Texas.  For more than 40 years he workedin the oil business in Borger, Amarillo and Oklahoma City, first for Gulf Oil and then for Chevron.
Al was a member of the Masonic Order for more than 50 years.  After retiring and moving to Sherman in 1980, he became a member of First United Methodist Church.
Al was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Peggy Green Coleman; sister, Delores Bell Green; brother, Joseph Edwin Green; son-in-law, Ed Smith; and a nephew, Joe Kesterson.
He is survived by daughter, Pat Smith, of Sherman; three grandchildren, Leslie Young and husband, Michael of Sherman; Eric Coleman of Pueblo, Colorado; and Mollie Lawrence and husband, Brit, of Lubbock, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Jack Young and Chloe Lawrence.  He is also survived by his son-in-law, John Coleman, as well as his nieces and nephews, A.D. Kesterson; Sue Hatcher; Ann Hines; Marilyn Hayworth; and Jan Green.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Sherman at 401 North Elm St., Sherman, Texas 75090.
