Dr. Don Freeman, 83, died May 13, 1992 after a long fight against cancer.  He was born November 12, 1908 in Pottsboro, Texas, son of Dr. Wm. and Mollie Freeman.  His family moved to Denison when he was a child.  He graduated from Denison High School in 1926.  Dr. Don was active in Boy Scouts as a youth, earning the rank of Eagle Scout.  He belonged to Rotary Troop NO. 1 and Ben Burgett was his scout leader.  Dr. Freeman was also Senior Patrol Leader of his group.
He attended Austin College for one year and then transferred to the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a B.A. Degree in1 930.  He attended Harvard Medical School in Boston and graduated in 1934 with a degree in Medicine.  He interned at Boston Children's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital in both bacteriology and pediatrics.  He was a pediatric resident at Boston Children's Hospital.  He returned to Denison in October 1938 to begin his practice in pediatrics that lasted 54 years.  He was a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Society, past President of Denison Rotary Club, and a charger member of the Grayson County Sheriff's Posse.  He received the Paul Harris Fellowship and Community Service award from the Denison Rotary Club.  Dr. Freeman was a member of the First Christian Church of Denison.
His first wife, Louise. died in 1977.  
He is survived by his wife, Lucille; 3 children, Robert Freeman of Arlington; Donna Freeman of Irving; and Lynne McKinley of Denison; 2 step-children, John Warriner of Dallas and Jane Warriner of Houston.  He has 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed, loved, and remembered not only by his family but also by 3 generations of children that he has treated and the parents that he has counseled all over North Texas and southern Oklahoma for the last 54 years.
Services were held Friday afternoon, May 15, 1992 at First Christian Church with Dr. Steven Mansen officiating.  Burial followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.  Pallbearers were Dr. W.D. Blassingame, Dr. Chuck Phelps, Dr. Wayne Delaney. Art Arthur, Burney Robinson and Art Arthur, Jr.  The Grayson County Sheriff's Posse were honorary pallbearers. - - - Bratcher Funeral Home
