DENISON HIGH SENIOR DIED OF CAR ACCIDENT INJURIES
Steve Foster, 18, local graduating Senior, died enroute to Madonna hospital in an ambulance after his auto crashed into an embankment in Eishenhower State Park Friday night.
Billy Don Calyer, 18, a passenger, suffered a compound fracture of the right arm and a dislocated elbow.  He was in the front seat.
Robert M. Rutledge, 18, was in the back seat and escaped with only minor injuries.
Young Foster's chest was crushed on the steering column, and apparently a broken rib cut into one of the large veins near the heart causing his death.
There was a delay in getting help for Foster because it was not first known that he was injured.  After the crash which occurred around 9:30 p.m., the Calyer youth caught a ride into town.  Denison police were notified of the accident and that the one youth was being taken to the hospital.
Highway Patrolman Richard Wacaster was notified and proceeded to the scene where he found the Foster youth threshing about on the ground beside the car.  He dashed back to his patrol car and radioed for a Johnson-Moore ambulande.
Wacaster then administerd first aid in a futile attempt to save the youth's waning life.  The patrolman succeeded in preventing the boy from stangling and kept him breathing with artificial respiration.  Wacaster accompanied him in the ambulance, but the youth died before the hospital could be reached.  Doctors attributed his death to the internal injuries.  Judge Homer Gaddy conducted the inquest.
When the accident occurred Foster was driving into eisenhower State Park on Lake Texoma on the winding Elm Ridge Road.  He was .1 of a mile inside the part when he lost control of his auto and smashed into the rocky embankment.  The entire right front of the 1954 model car was forced back to the firewal by the force of the impact.
Foster was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. S.H. Foster of 300 West Walker.  He was born in Denison December 6, 1940, and had lived here all his life.  He was a Senior at Denison Senior High and wold have graduated in a few days.  He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in the Bratcher Funeral Chapel with Rev. D.B. Wright officiating.  Burial will be in Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Survivors include his parents, and a grandmother, Mrs. Bessie Moore of Denison.
