Denison - Raymond Pittman "Pa" Ellis, 94, of Denison passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Texoma Medical Center.
He was born August 14, 1919 to Forrest Pittman and Ida Angelina Poole Ellis in Gaffney, South Carolina.  He received his education in South Carolina and was in the Navy during World War II.  He married Mary Virginia McCollester in 1945 in Seattle, Washington.  Mr. Ellis worked as a powerhouse operator with the Corps of Engineers and retired after 30 plus years of service.  He loved gardening and music, especially playing the fiddle, and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchidren.  He was very fond of and stayed up to date with modern technology, and he loved to read.  The Masonic Lodge was a big part of his life too; he spent many years contributing his time and participating in lodge functions and fundraisers.
Funeral services were held Tuesday mroning at East Baptist Church with Rev. Brett Castle and Chaplain Hugh Moody officiating.  Masonic services were conducted by Billie Mosse Masonic Lodge #1152 at the church.  Interment followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.  Pallbearers were Ben Allen, Tim Neal, Bruce Lamance, Bubba Stevens, Joe Keitz, and Rodney Owens.  Honorary pallbearers were all of the Masonic Brothers.
Survivors include his son, Larry Ellis and wife, D'Ann, of Pottsboro; daughters, Brenda Brady of Denison and Barbara Chamberlain and husband, Robert, of Tallahassee, Florida; sister, Annette Childers of Gaffney, South Carolina; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary, of 62 years; 5 brothers and 6 sisters.

Arrangements were under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
