Sherman - Funeral services for Betty Evelyn Edwards was held Monday morning, January 16, 2012 at Waldo Funeral Home.  Bill Mayes of Woods Street Church of Christ officiated.  Burial followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Nick Fajerson, Kent Neal, Vinson Shields, Dow Neal, Robert Pierce, and Jerry Fontaine serving as pallbearers..  Mrs. Edwards, 76, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012 at Texoma Medical Center.
Betty was born November 4, 1935 in Savoy, Texas, daughter of Lester J. and Naomi Pratt Taylor.  She graduated from Savoy schools and married Joseph Palya in 1950.  She and Joseph were married many years.  She later married John R. Edwards and was married to him until his death.
Betty owned and operated The Busy Bee Ceramic Shop in Sherman for over 25 years.  During that time she volunteered many hours at the Sherman Snap Center where she did ceramic projects with the elderly residents there.  She was a longtime member of Woods Street Church of Christ.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by 2 sons, Bill and Johnny Palya, both of Sherman; daughter, Jo Ann Palya and her husband, Robert Woods, of Memphis, Tennessee; 3 brothers, JV Taylor and wife, Rose Mary, of Kingsland, Texas; Walton Taylor and wife, Susan, of Baytown, Texas; and Nathan Taylor of Austin, Texas; sister, Jeanett Melton and husband, JW of Amarillo; 2 grandchildren, Corie Fajerson and husband, Nick, of Southmayd; and Dow Neal and wife, Trena, of Sherman; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the ARF House at 3377 Spalding Rd., Sherman, Texas 75090; Home Hospice of Grayson County at 505 W. Center, Sherman, Texas 75090; or the charity of the donor's choice.
