San Antonio - Funeral services for Alicia Ann (Emory) Doherty were held Saturday, May 19 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Mike Emory, Steven Emory, Scott Emory, Larry Atherton, John Crow and Dan Beckett serving as pallbearers.  Mrs. Doherty, 61, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at her family's home in Denison after battling Multiple Myeloma.
Alicia was born October 31, 1956 in Sherman to Wayne and Patsy Duke Emory.  She was a High-Stepper at Sherman High School, graduating in 1975 and earned her Associates Degree in Nursing from Grayson County College.  Alicia worked as a surgical nurse at Wilson N. Jones Hospital for several years.  On May 19, 1979 she and John Patrick Doherty were married in Sherman.  With John's career in the military, Alicia and John lived in several cities, including O'Fallon, Illinois; Campton, England; San Angelo, Texas; and San Antonio, Texas.  Alicia was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother.  She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her children and her grandson.
Mrs. Doherty is survived by her husband of San Antonio; son, Clyde Doherty and wife, Ruby, of Schertz, Texas; daughter, Laura Doherty and husband, Jesse Young, of Austin; grandson, Oliver Young; parents; three brothers, Mike Emory and wife, Carolyn, of Sherman; Steven Emory and wife, Penny, of Denison; and Scott Emory and wife, Suzette, of Pottsboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. - - - Waldo Funeral Home
