  Juan Z. Darnell 21 August 1921 - 31 October 2004 Master Sergeant US Air Force WWII, Korea  Viola Darnell was born May 20, 1921 in Krum, Texas, daughter of Charles and Henrietta Grabbe Linenschmidt and passed from this life on Monday, December 5, 2016 in the Homestead of Sherman at the age of 95. Viola grew up in Krum and attended high school in Denton. She married the love of her life, Juan Darnell on October 20, 1941 in Bakersfield, California. Juan served in the U.S. Air Force, in which they spent several years in California and Texas before moving to Sherman in 1948 to Perrin Field. Viola and Juan enjoyed square dancing and were avid Bridge players. She worked at Vaughn's store on the square as a clerk and after Sears opened, she became an employe there for a few years. Viola enjoyed sewing and ceramics. She was a longtime member of Key Memorial Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Marvin and Howard Linenschmidt. Viola is survived by her daughter, Pat Scott; and grandson, Jonathan Scott, both of Sherman. Funeral services were held Thursday morning, December 8 in Waldo Funeral Home Chapel.
