Services for CBerry Darnell, 79-year-old retired school teacher, were held Friday afternoon, June 8 in the Grayson Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Stone officiating.  Burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
She died Tuesday, June 5 at the Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center in Bonham.
Mrs. Darnell was born in Quitman, daughter of John Henry and Donie Vickery Whitehurst.   She attended Quitman and Byers schools, and received her teaching degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
She was a World War II veteran, with service in the Women's Army Air Force.  On August 23, 1947 she married James E . Darnell in El Paso.
Mrs. Darnell taught school at Pilgrim Rest, Archer  City and Olney.  Formerly of Nevada, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Reno, Nevada.   She had been a Sherman resident for 20 years, and was a member of the Grayson Bible Church.
Surviving are her husband; son, Kenneth James Darnell of Dallas; daughter, Janice Faye Darnell Baker of Vallejo, California; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers were Bill Cannon, James Haliburton, Jim Dart, W.C. Morris, James Trammell and Scott Glaze.
C.H. Hass and Harris Hass, nephews of Mrs. Darnell, and Mrs. C.H. Hass attended the service.
