Mrs. Julia Elaine Tarpley Cowart, 67, of Sherman passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, December 10, 2018 at Waldo Funeral Home.  Burial followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.
Julia was born January 4, 1941 and raised in Bells, daughter of Robert Noel Tarpley and Julia Josephine Pointer Tarpley.  She graduated from Bells High School in 1969.  She met her husband, Billy Richard Cowart, and they married in the 1970s in Bells and has 2 sons.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Richard Glen Cowart and Kenneth Brandon Cowart.
She is survived by her husband of Sherman; brothers and sisters-in-law, David Tarpley and wife, Jean, of Mississippi; Mac and wife, Barb McCaughey; and Katie Cowart; brother-in-law, Gene Cowart; daughter-in-law, Sondra Cowart of Sherman; grandchildren, Kyle Willmond of Bowie; Shelby Hessinger of Wichita Falls; Che' Farmer of Tennessee; great-grandson, Xander Smith of Wichita Falls, Texas. - - -Waldo Funeral Home


Kenneth Brandon Cowart, 38, of Denison, Texas passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 in Oklahoma.  Funeral services were held Friday morning, July 6, 2012 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel in Sherman.  Arrangements were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman.
Brandon was born December 7, 1973, son of Billy Richard and J. Elaine Tarpley Cowart.  He graduated from S&S in 1993.  While working at Furr's in 1993 he met the love of his life, wife, Sondra K. Lankston.  They married on August 26, 2000 in Denison.
He had 3 children he loved dearly, Kyle Ray Willmond, 19, of St. Jo, Texas; Shelby Elizabeth Cowart Hessinger, 17, of Iowa Park, Texas; and Che' Alexandor Farmer, 13, of Denison.
Brandon is survived by his wife; his children; his parents; many aunts, uncles, cousins; 2 sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; father-in-law; 5 nieces and nephews; and 2 goddaughters.
Brandon was preceded in death by his older brother, Richard Glen Cowart; grandparents, Robert Noel and Julie Josephine "Josie" Tarpley; and mother-in-law, Penney Jeter.
He had many friends and was loved by many others including Sondra's coworkers and friends at Whataburger in Denison.  Brandon was employed at Ruiz Foods for almost 6 years.  He was an avid bow hunter and fisherman.  Brandon gave his life being a hero.  On June 30, 2012 while fishing at his favorite spot at the river, he saw 2 children in trouble and jumped in to save them.  In saving them, he gave his own life.
Pallbearers were Tony Cothern, David Holt, Josh Boyd, Richard Gentry, Joey Hughes, and Ronnie Moore.
