Ozell
Bowen was born February 1, 1920 in Grayson County, Texas, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Bowen. Here she grew up and attended the Grayson
County public schools. Later she furthered her education at
Southeastern University in Durant, Oklahoma. Before retirement she taught school in the Grayson County public school system including Sherman. She was a longtime member of the Independent Springs CME Church in the Blue Creek community east of Sherman. During her declining health her grandson and wife began to care for her and moved her to Allen, Texas where she could be well attended to. On Tuesday evening Ozell passed away peaceful in the Victoria Gardens in Allen, Texas. She is survived by her grandson and wife; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held Friday morning, September 27, 2013 at the Scoggins Funeral Home in Howe, Texas with Pastor Carrie Renter of the Independent Springs CME Church officiating.
