Sherman - Services for Patsy A. Baker of Sherman, 82-year-old retired Salvation Army employee who died Thursday, March 3, 2005 at Texoma Medical Healthcare Center in Sherman were held Saturday morning, March 5, 2005 in the Chapel on the Hill at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Captain David Grigsbay of the Sherman Salvation Army officiated and burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.  Arrangements were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
Patsy was born on May 29, 1922 in Whitesboro, Texas, daughter of Ira A. Smith and Hermie Crump Smith.  She graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1940 and married Bert Baker on July 19, 1941 in Durant, Oklahoma.  She worked in the soda fountain at Skillern's in downtown Sherman in the 1940s and later worked at Hardwicke-Etter during the 1950s.  She later worked at Bert Sheridan Grocery before becoming the manager of the Sherman Salvation Army Thrift Store, retiring at age 62.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Judy C. Watson and husband, Marvin, of Allen and Patti Jo Schnitker of Sherman; 2 sons, Bert T. Baker and wife, Patsy, of Cartwright, Oklahoma and Daryl G. Baker of Sherman; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and 5 brothers, H.O. "Toy Stephens, Joe Stephens, Guy Stephens, Willard Stephens, and Dillard Stephens.



Bert Thomas Baker, Jr., loving husband of Patsy Baker, went to be with the Lord the evening of August 24, 2015, at the age of 68 years.  Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, August 28, 2015 at Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Roddy Arnold officiating.  Burial followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas.  Pallbearers were Steve Withers, Danny Shrum, Dylan Work, Shane Pruvis, and Zachary Bachman.
Bert lived a full life and was a member and Sunday School teacher of the First Baptist Church of Colbert, Oklahoma.  He was an active member of the Jaycees of Sherman for several years.  He graduated from Sherman High School and Grayson College with a business management degree.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.
He left behind his wife, Patsy; 3 children, Don Chennault and wife, Sue; Jodi Withers and husband, Steve; Jennifer Purvis and husband, Shane; grandchildren, Tyler Withers, Logan Richardson, Sara Withers, Cassie Bennett and husband, Jessie; Lisa Lee and husband, Eric; Mandy McHugh and husband, Jake; great-grandchildren, Autumn, Ave, Jackson, Noah, Titus, Toren, Landon; sisters, Judi Watson, Patti Schnitker; brother, Daryl Baker and wife, Lisa; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bert Thomas Baker, Sr. and Patsy Adeline Baker; and brother-in-law, Marvin Watson.
