Josephine Pate Burden, 92, passed away at her home in Denison, Texas, September 3, 2016.  She was born in Denison December 29, 1923, daughter of Perry and Louise Sweeney.
Josephine served as a surgical nurse at Madonna Hospital, and later as the office nurse for Dr. Stanley Clayton.  She was a member of the DAR, Eastern Star, and for many years a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
A proud life-long resident of Denison, she attended Raynal Elementary, and was a member of the first Denison High School Drill Team.
She loved the nursing profession, sports, hometown parades and events, domino games with her in-laws, Dr. Pepper, and writing short stories about growing up in Denison.
She is survived by sons, David Burden and wife, Debbie, of Denison; and Dennis Burden and wife, Jane, of Harlingen, Texas; daughter-in-law, Bonita Burden of Colorado; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and step-family members: Roberta Townsend; Richard Pate and Bernice Gray.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Alvin Pate and James Burden; beloved son, Ronny Burden;  2 brothers, 2 sisters, and her parents.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, September 7, 2016 at Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel with Horace Groff officiating and burial to follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.   Pallbearers were Billy Burden, Lynn Burden, David Michael Burden, Jeff Rhodes, Miguel Basaldua, Dusty Rhodes, Matt Rhodes and James Adams.
