Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma, Alyce Boatright, passed away peacefully at home in Sherman, Texas on September 2, 2021.
Alyce was born January 26, 1937 in  Oxnard, California, attended Oxnard High School.  Later she married Daniel Boatright, an Airman in the U.S. Air Force.  While in the Air Force they traveled to exotic countries such as Morocco, North Africa and Japan.  After many travels she settled in Sherman, Texas in the early 1970s.
Alyce was a remarkable woman and an inspiration to her 4 children.  Devoted to God, she read her Devotional daily, noting favorite passages in her personal journal and looking forward to life in her everlasting home.
Her strength in character guided her through life to become a strong independent woman.  Throughout her illness, she remained steadfast on maintaining that independence.
Alyce was very wise and candid, but in a loving kind way.  She was not afraid to share her experienced words of wisdom.  There were days she with her small voice fought to be heard during our boisterous conversations, but she was going to be heard.  We listened.
Alyce had a great sense of humor and could trade quips with the best, as we often did during many fun nights playing one of her favorite domino games, Chickenfoot.  She was a master at puzzles and loved playing cards, dominoes and board games.  Many fond memories at the Choctaw Casino.  She did that very thing just last week.  She knew how to outsmart those machines.
She was a seasoned cruiser.  With her daughter, Cindy, they both had many wonderful experiences cruising the Caribbean.  They were prepared to leave for a cruise on September 8, 2021.
Alyce was a remarkable woman who raised 4 children, much of the time as a single mother.  She will be greatly missed.  She is now in her forever home, with her forever Jesus and preparing places for the rest of her loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Florence Marguerite Griffin; father, Albert James Wride; sister, LaVaughn; and brother, James Odell Wride.
She is survived by her son, Michael Boatright and wife, Sherri, of Macon, Georgia; son, Bruce Boatright and wife, Elizabeth, of Sherman, Texas; daughter, Cindy Boatright of Sherman, Texas; son, Brian Boatright and wife, Patricia, of Knoxville, Tennessee; daughter-in-law,  Theresa Boatright of Sherman, Texas; 14 grandchildren - Michael, Kenneth, Dallas, Jason, Brandon, Kristin, Patrick, Whitney, Stephanie, Jennifer, Andrew, Thomasina; 14 great-grandchildren.
Alyce was a long time member of Fairview Baptist Church in Sherman where she grew her faith and made many friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital or The American Cancer Society.
The service was held at Waldo Funeral Home on Tuesday morning, September 7, 2021.  Graveside ceremony immediately followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman, Texas. - - - Waldo Funeral Home
