Betty Lou Nichols Bornowski was born January 18, 1929 in the Mountairy, Missouri area, daughter of Earl and Dollie Nichols; she passed away in Dallas, Texas on Thursday, January 7, 2021, just shy of her 92nd birthday, after a battle with COVID-19.  Her surviving family is saddened that her death was by a terrible virus that has negatively impacted so many.   However, all are at peace knowing that God was ready to reunite Betty with the love of her life, her husband, Albert  Bornowski.
Betty was the consummate Air Force wife, traveling the country and world as needed to support her loving husband.  She birthed her first two sons in Panama, Central America, her third son in Sherman, Texas, and throughout their childhood shepherded their family through stints in  Japan, Tucson and ultimately life back in Sherman.
Always a consummate caregiver, Betty loved cooking for those around her.  You could count on her to prepare food at family events, church functions, and provide friends in  need with a hearty meal.  A dinner was never complete without a dessert in the Bornowski house!  Betty was alway there helping her sons with homework, school projects, sports games and practices.  The love she shared with her husband of 57 years was evident to all who knew them; a friendship and partnership built on trust and care.  Many can remember the laughter and smiles as they baked a loaf of bread together, sorted hand-picked tomatoes, and ate peach ice cream.  It was the enjoyment of the simple things in life that kept their marriage and family bright.
She found her church home at Trinity Lutheran in Sherman and will be missed by the congregation.  Betty will be dearly missed and remembered fondly by her family and friends as a loving and dependable woman.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Albert Bornowski; and her six siblings.
She is survived by her sons, Art and wife, Cindy; Bill and wife, Debra; and David and wife, Amy.  She loved her two grandchildren, Cody Bornowski and Natalie Bornowski as well as her 7 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Tuesday afternoon, January 12, 2021 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. - - -Waldo Funeral Home
