SHERMAN - Funeral services for Lucille Brannum were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 28 in the Chapel on the Hill at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Dr. Eddy Johnson of the Grayson Bible Baptist Church officiated with services under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Mrs. Brannum, 89, passed away Sunday, January 25 in the Hilltop Haven Nursing Facility in Gunter.
Lucille was born on May 12, 1919 in Sherman to the late John and Allie (Cary) Sutherland. She married Hoyt Brannum in December 1938 in Sherman. Mrs. Brannum worked as a bundle girl for Pool Manufacturing and Action Line from 1941 until she retired in the early 80s. She worked some at the Shady Oaks Nursing Center during her retirement. She was a longtime member of Grayson Bible Baptist Church. Mrs. Brannum was a devoted wife who loved the Lord and her family unconditionally. She was anxious for the day she would be reunited with all her family.
Mrs. Brannum is survived by two nieces, Donna Staggs and husband David; and Landa Byers and husband Clyde, all of Sherman; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Sutherland of Sherman and Gladys Sutherland of Royse City; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Thelma Martin and Ethel Phelps; and eight brothers, Clyde, Everett, Lloyd, Elza, Harold, J.D., Ueless, and Bobby Sutherland.
