Sherman - Robert "Waddie Bob" Abbott was born Saturday, June 24, 1939 in Dallas, Texas, son of Gordon and Louise Labenski Abbott and passed from this life after a brief illness on Monday, September 26, 2016 in Beacon Hill at Denison, Texas at the age of 77.
Robert was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas and attended the University of North Texas.  He married Vicki Flowers on August 28, 1959 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Dallas.  They had just celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.  They came to Sherman in 1969, working with Texas Instruments and retired from Raytheon in 1994 after 34 years.  Robert then wen to work for Techni-Tool as a consultant and outside salesman in Rowlett, Texas. 
Robert joined the Army as an active Reservist and in 1961 was called up to be ready for deployment during the Berlin Crisis.  He served on the first Sherman Police auxiliary for several years.  He was very faithful as a member of Trinity Baptist Church for 38 years and served as a teenage boys Sunday school teacher and Men's Sunday school class teacher.  He was currently an active member of Fairview Baptist Church and member of the Adult II Sunday School Department.
Robert loved his family; he especially enjoyed attending gun shows with his oldest son, Robert; and hunting dove with his youngest son, Chris.  He also enjoyed cowboy action shooting with his middle son, Jeff; and going shopping with his daughter, Robin.  He loved going to sports activities that his grandchildren participated in.  Robert made a dulcimer instrument with his hands.  He was also a knife and gun collector.
Robert was a Christian and loved God and his church, wife, children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Abbott; in-laws, Nell and Bill Flowers; aunt, Mary Lou Muether; cousin, Jim Muether and nephew, Jeffrey Flowers; also best friends, Mark Steel and Sid McClane.
Robert is survived by his wife, Vicki, of Sherman; mother, Louise Abbott of Sherman; sons, Robert Abbott, Jr. and wife, Carole, of Frisco; Jeff Abbott and wife, Stormy, of Colbert, Oklahoma; Christ Abbott of Denison; and daughter, Robin Mrozinski of Sherman; brother Stanley Abbott and wife, Diane, of New Braunfels; grandchildren: Jordyn Wilson and husband, Jared, of Prosper; Jon Abbott of Frisco; Lauren Abbott of Savannah, Texas; Chase, Brantley Abbott of Denison; and Kaytlyn Hensley; step-grandchild, Brayden Oliver Wilson of Frisco; brother-in-law, Bill Flowers and wife, Linda, of Garland; family friends, Alena Abbott, Keri Abbott, John and Marian Work.
Services to celebrate Robert's life were held Thursday morning, September 29 in Waldo Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Chris Moses, Rev. Reid Kirk and Rev. Bill Whitehead, serving as officiants.  Interment followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
