Addie J. "Sweetie" Armstrong
14 February 1943 - 28 November 2017


On Wednesday, November 28, 2017, Addie "Sweetie" went into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.
Addie was born February 14, 1943 in Denison, Texas, daughter of Leonard and Inell Jones Wimberly.  She was a graduate of Terrell High School, class of 1961, Prairie View A&M, class of 1968 and Masster of Divinity School of Theology, class of 1991.  She worked for the City of Carrollton and City of San Antonio as a Librarian for more than 20 years.  Addie loved the Lord and was a longtime active member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in San Antonio, joining in 1982 where she served on the Usher Board.  It was a difficult decidion to make but Addie knew her family in Denison needed her and she needed them.  She moved to Denison in 2016 where she would join her family at Hopewell Baptist Church.  She was a world class traveler from cruising the great seas to sightseeing in Africa and Europe.  She was an avid reader, San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys lover.  She would often go back and forth with her great-nephews about whose team was better than the other.  Sweetie was a beautiful loving person who radiated joy among others, standing just 4'10", Sweetie was a tough yet kind loving woman with a heart of pure gold.
Addie leaves behind her beloved brother, Ira L. Wimberly; 7 nieces; 3 nephews; and God-daughter, Nicole Monet and husband, Melvin.
Addie was preceded in death and met by her parents; step-father, Don McCollum; and 4 sisters, Lillian, Mildred, Marion and Estella.  A host of great nieces and nephews with Reonte' as a very special nephew as she later came to call him her son.
Funeral services for Mrs. Armstrong were held Monday morning, December 4, 2017 at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. C.E. Evans officiating and Eulogy by Rev. Joseph C. Huff.  Interment followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.
