Van Alstyne, Texas, June 2 - Oscar M. Cannon, 83, died Tuesday morning at his home here.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at the family residence with burial in the Cannon Cemetery.

Mr. Cannon was born in South Carolina, and at the age of 4 years, with his parents and twelve brothers and sisters, came to Texas, locating at what is now known as the Cannon community, six miles east of Van Alstyne, fifteen years before the town of Van Alstyne was established.
