H. P. Busby
1847 - 1931

Harlen P. Busby, 83 years old, died this morning at his home near here.  Funeral services were held this afternoon, conducted by Rev. J.W. Holsapple, pastor of the First Christian church.  Burial was in the Cannon Cemetery.
Mr. Busby was born March 14, 1847 in Georgia.  He came to Texas 62 years ago, locating at Jefferson.  
He is survived by 2 sons, Wilborne and Leslie, both of Van Alstyne; 3 daughters, Mrs. Fannie Curtis of Ft. Worth; Mrs. Hassie Priddie of Ferris; and Mrs. Lillian Simpson of Ennis; 4 sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Rutling of Rush Springs, Oklahoma; Mrs. Sofana Davis of Seagoville; Mrs. Eugena Stanford of Grand Saline; and Mrs. Elmora Laurel of Edgewood; and one brother, Frank Busby of Jacksonville; 19 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

Note: My great grandfather, Harlan Page Busby, enlisted under Captian Brown, Co G, Bell's Batallion, attached to General McCay's Brigade, Georgia.   He was wounded in Doctortown, in southwest Georgia, and had his leg amputated.

He came to Texas in 1868 and came to Grayson County with Frank Leslie & Cora Busby, his son, daughter-in-law & family in 1923.  He died in 1931 and is buried in Cannon Cemetery. "
