HIT RUN VICTIM FOUND ON HIGHWAY
Westminster, Texas
December 23, 1940

Dennis Carson (Blu) Brown, 33, son of John Jasper and Nancy Strong Brown was found dead beside the highway between Floyd and Farmersville, Texas about 5 p.m. Sunday, apparently having been struck by a hit-and-run driver.  Two passing soldiers discovered the body.
Mr. Brown had been visiting a friend in Sulphur Springs Saturday and was returning home.  A ticket stub indicated he had ridden a bus from Sulphur Springs to Greenville.
Sheriff Frank Wolfe of Greenville was called to investigate.  He said the body had apparently been drug about 90 feet, as it was badly mangled and the clothing almost torn off.  He found evidence that a car had stopped, that the body was removed and laid beside the road, then the driver proceeded.
Funeral services were to be held at the local Church of Christ, with burial at the Cannon Cemetery under the direction of Fannin of Van Alstyne.
He is survived by his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Brown of Sedalia, Texas; 2 sisters, Miss Aria Brown of Moss, Tennessee; and Miss Gladell Brown of Sedalia, Texas; 4 brothers, Arson and Hugh Brown of Moss, Tennessee; Eugene and Robert Brown of Sedalia, Texas.
Mr. Brown had been living with a cousin, James D. Brown of Westminister at the time of death.
Pallbearers named were cousins, Edward, Lloyd, Willard, John, Bertie and Cleddie Brown.
