Josephine Ellen Graack Haase
12 October 1932 -

DALLAS - Josephine Ellen Graack Haase, a caring mother and dedicated teacher, died peacefully on Friday afternoon at her daughter's home in Dallas. She was 77.
Though in failing health for the past year, Mrs. Haase enjoyed her last days with her family watching the birds and the record snowfalls in Dallas from her favorite picture window.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in McKinney. A visitation will be held at 1:30 p.m. before the service. Fr. Cruz Calderon of the church will be the celebrant and the burial will follow at Cannon Cemetery east of Van Alstyne. Arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
Born in 1932 in Monroe, S.D. to Wilhelm Graack and Martha Otto Graack, Mrs. Haase received her master's degree in early childhood education from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. In 1952, she married Robert Maurice Haase of Parker, S.D. at First English Lutheran Church. She taught elementary school for almost 40 years in Illinois, South Dakota and Texas. She practiced the art of teaching with great creativity and innovation, and in this vocation she touched many lives.
In addition to her dedication to teaching, she was of selfless character, expressing an unconditional love for her family. Always ready with a smile, Mrs. Haase also loved nature, needlepoint, and gardening, and in her spare time enjoyed walking the local neighborhoods and parks both by herself and with her grandchildren.
