Long Illness Fatal to Tom Bean Pioneer

Sherman, Texas, August 9 - After an illness of seven years following a stroke, J. N. George, 74, resident of the Tom Bean community sixty-nine years, died Tuesday night at his home in Tom Bean.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Tom Bean Church of Christ.  Burial was in the Cannon Cemetery.
Born in Tennessee, George, at the age of 15, came with his parents to Texas in a covered wagon.  The family settled in the Tom Bean community.  He farmed until his health failed, then moved to town.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Flora Ray George; four daughters, Miss Ola George and Mrs. Randell Hopper of Tom Bean; Miss Beulah George of Dallas; and Miss Pink George of Denison; and two grandsons.
