Sherman- Funeral services for Myra Juanell Douglas will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 12 in the First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne. Rev. Jimmy Tarrant of the church will officiate. Burial will follow at Cannon Cemetery with James Douglas, Sean Douglas, Garrett Anderson, Alan Walters, Glen Presley, and Billy Wallace serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Douglas passed away Thursday, March
3 in Sherman.

Myra was born September 28, 1929 in Paducah, Texas to the late Joe E. Tapper and Mattie Mae (Lane) Tapper. She married William R. Douglas, Sr on December 28, 1946. Mr. Douglas passed away in 1999. Mrs. Douglas worked primarily as a nurses' aide at Wilson N. Jones but also worked for Texas Instruments and had been a beauty operator and homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne and a former member of the Grayson County Sheriff's Citizens Academy. Myra was known to all as "Granny." She was a very caring, loving and generous mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother and was a dedicated provider for all of her family. Everyone that knew her was made aware that her son Bobby was her pride and joy.

Mrs. Douglas is survived by one son, William R. "Bob" Douglas, Jr. and his wife Cindi of Van Alstyne; two sisters, Lavern Tapper of Mexia and Owanna Jo Forehand of Anna; six grandchildren, Shelley Riggs and husband Kris of the Republic of Niger, James Douglas and wife Nikki of Van Alstyne, Sean Douglas and wife Karla of Howe, Emily Hays and husband Joey of Hawaii, Laurel Taylor and husband Ernie of Sherman, and Garrett Anderson and wife Ashley of Sherman; eleven great grandchildren, Shiloh and Ethan Riggs
of the Republic of Niger, Jordan Douglas of Van Alstyne, Madilyn, Macy, and Mary-Kate Douglas of Howe, Elizabeth Glidden of Van Alstyne, Shelby Mincheff of Van Alstyne, and Riken, Jagger, and Liberty Anderson of Sherman; and her special and faithful canine companions, Zeike and Robbie. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Connie Joe Fleming, and one brother, Dickie McKnight.

The family wants to express their thanks for her dear friend Carol Fox and her sister, Owanna Jo who stood by her and lovingly
cared for her in her last days.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at Waldo Funeral Home.
