Tom Bean - Tommie Clifton Allen, 78-year-old Tom Bean resident, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at the Whitewright Nursing Home.
Services were held on Tuesday, Sept, 23, 1999, at the First Methodist Church in Tom Bean.  Officiating were the Rev. John Kay and the Rev. Cent Faris.  Burial was at Cannon Cemetery.
Mr. Allen was born on Dec. 29, 1920, in Rose Hill, Texas, the sn of James William and Ora Margaret Miller Allen. He married Burles Allen on Jan. 25, 1945, in Sherman.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tom Bean.  He was a captain in both the ROTC and U.S. Army.  During World War II, he served six years in the United States Marine Coprs, mainly in Saipan, Tawian, Marshall Islands, Guadelcanal Guam, Torowa, Samoa and New Zeland.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreigh Wars in Sherman.  He was an agent for the Agricultural Extnsion Service for many years.
Pallbearers were the members of the VFW in Sherman.
Surviving are his wife, Burles Allen of Tom Bean; two daughters, Karen Muller and her husband, Johan of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and Patricia Rush and her husband Sam of Jackson, Miss; two sons, Michael Allen and his wife, Donna of Fairfax, Va., and James Allen and his wife, Sandy of Portland, Texas; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Glenna Dene Higgenbotham and her husband, Ewell of Albuquerque, N.M. and Helen Jean Morgan of Killeen, Texas; and one brother, Howard Allena nd his wife, Ethelleen of Plano, Texas.
