Carolyn Riggins
14 June 1936 - 16 March 2016

Joan Carolyn Riggins, age 79, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at her home.
Mrs. Riggins was born June 14, 1936 in Houston, Texas, the daughter of Clay King and Lena Edna (Thomas) Money.  Her mother passed away from breast cancer when she was just ten years old.  She graduated from Lamar High School in Houston in 1954.  She later graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1958 from Abilene Christian University with a degree in Home Economics and Education.  Carolyn went to work for Lone Star Gas in Greenville, Texas as a Home Economist.  That is where she met her husband, Richard Riggins and her lifelong best friend, Jackie Carson.  One of her favorite dates with Richard was going to see The Sound of Music at Majestic Theater in Dallas in 1965.  Carolyn married Richard May 30, 1964 in Denison at St. Patrick Catholic Church.  They moved to Denison in 1967, and was head of all the cafeterias in Denison ISD.  Carolyn also taught homemaking, family living and vocational education at McDaniel Junior High and Denison High School.  She retired from DISD in May of 1994.
She was a member of Park Avenue Church of Christ (Armstrong Avenue Church of Christ) since 1967.  She would thank each of us every day for taking care of her.  In return we thanked her for taking care of us too.  Although her passing leaves a void in our lives, she will live on in our hearts forever.
Carolyn leaves behind her beloved family: daughter, Linda Paschal and husband Bo of Denison; grandchildren: Ty Paschal and Caroline Paschal, both of Denison; sisters, Karan Sneed of Austin, Texas and Susan Erickson of Dallas, Texas; newphews, Dylan Sneed of Brooklyn, New York and Louis Erickson of Ft. Worth, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Riggins.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2016 at Park Avenue Church of Christ with Minister Todd Catteau officiating.  Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Denison.
