Funeral services for John G. Geis, Pottsboro farmer who died at the city hospital Tuesday, were conducted from the home of his sister at 214 West Morton street Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. Father J.J. McGran, pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic church, officiating, interment being in Calvary cemetery.
Mr. Geis had been ill for several weeks but the immediate cause of his death was pneumonia which developed a short time before he passed away.
He was born in Bastrop, Texas, December 9, 1876, and was the son of Christian and Barbara Schaffer Geis.  He was a former resident of Denison but moved to Pottsboro 5 years ago where he has been engaged in farming.
Surviving are his wife and 5 children: Lester Lee, Viola Elizabeth, J.G., Milton and Wilbur; also his mother Mrs. Barbara Geis; and sisters, Mrs. Margaret Hoppe of Bastrop; Mrs. Bertha Daugherty of Tom Bean; Mrs. H.A. Schuelke and brother, C.W. Geis of this city.
Mr. Geis was a prominent citizen of his community and his death is mourned by a large circle of friends.
