A lamentable case of death by poisoning occurred Tuesday in the family of Mr. Andrew Kirce, living on the corner of Chestnut street and Chandler avenue.
On Friday of the previous week, Mrs. Krice, in cleaning out a closet in the house came across a bottle containing a quantity of embalming fluid, which had been left there by the undertaker at the time of Mrs. Joe Irvin's death last summer.  Mrs. Krice sat the bottle down upon the floor along with the other articles taken from the closet, and while she was engaged in washing the shelves, Bessie, the little three-and-a-half year old daughter, got hold of the bottle and, it being apparently good to taste, drank the contents.  The deathly sickness of the child was the first intimation the parents had of the poisoning and a doctor was sent for who administered an antedote.  The medicine seemed to have the desired effect and the child was thought to be improving, but Monday a reaction set in which resulted in death at five a.m. Tuesday.
The funeral took place from the Catholic church Wednesday at 10 a.m., the interment taking place at Calvary cemetery.  This sudden bereavement has been a severe blow to the fond parents and their grief awakens general sympathy.
