Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Tuesday morning for James R. Hayden, Sr., 70, with Monsgr. Thomas Zachry officiating.  Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with Bratcher Funeral Home in charge.  A rosary service was held at Bratcher Chapel Monday night.  Pallbearers were T.W. Greenwald, J.T. Stephenson, Leo Burleson, Saunders Freels, Fred Hoppe, and Lou Stuart.
Hayden died in the Katy Employees Hospital Sunday morning, January 11 at 3:45.  He had been in the hospital 2 days.  He was a retired Katy  car department superintendent.
Deceased was born in St. Paul, Missouri, May 22, 1888, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Hayden. He attended St. Mary's College at Maryville, Kansas.  He was married June 5, 1916 in  St. Charles, Missouri to Lottie Schneider.  After he death he married Mrs. Sarah Finley in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hayden came to Denison in 1916 as a mechanical inspector for the Katy.  He moved to Parsons in 1918 and returned to Denison in 1923 and became superintendent in charge of the car department.  He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Rod and Gun Club.  The Hayden home is at 1317 W. Monterey.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sarah Hayden; a  son, J.R. Hayden, Jr., San Antonio;  two daughters, Mrs. James K. Welch, Cuba, Illinois; and  Mrs. Sarah Jane McGinnis, Lowry Field, Denver, Colorado; a brother, Dr. Frances Hayden, St. Louis; two sisters, Mrs. Delphine McNenny, St. Paul; and Mrs. Edith Clair Dutton, St. Louis; and 14 grandchildren.
