TEXANS IN THE CIVIL WAR

Bartlett William Hutton was born ca1839, Jackson County, Alabama.  He came to Grayson County, Texas in 1854, settling in Collinsville.  His occupation is listed as a farm laborer in the household of Jim Timmons along with two of his brothers, Alvey and Alexander, as per the 1860 census.  On March 1, 1862 Bart enlisted for one year in  Capt. James H. Tuttle's Company G, 16th Reg. Texas Cavalry Dismounted, 3rd Brigade, Walker's Texas Division.  He was elected Corporal.  Bart was on the muster roll for March 10, 1862.  His pension application states he served for three years.
Bartlett married Malinda Jane Morris in Cooke County, Texas on January 2, 1878.  They had five children.  He died ca1903 in their home at Collinsville and is buried five miles south of Whitesboro, Texas with his second son, who was 16 years of age at the time of his death.
