Rufus West died Saturday morning


Prominent Citizen of Bells Passed Away at family Home After One Week's Illness

Rufus West died Saturday morning at his home In Bells after an illness of one week; according to reports the immediate cause of his death is attributed to lagrippe. The funeral services were conducted Sunday morning at the Baptist church In Bells by Rev. J. L. Truett, pastor of the First Baptist church of Whitewright, followed by interment at the Bells cemetery with Masonic honors.
A large concourse of friends were present at the funeral services from Sherman, Whltewright, Savoy, Ravenna and other points to pay a last silent tribute to the remains of a good man.
Rufus West was slxty-two years of age and had been a resident of Bells for many years, where he was engaged in the livery stable business. Prior to his residence In Bells Mr. West had resided in Anthony for a number of years. He was a good Christian gentleman, being a member of the Baptist church. Mr. West was widely known throughout Fannln and Grayson counties, serving as deputy sheriff for a number of years in the latter county, and the news of his death will be a grievous shock to his many friends throughout North Texas.
He Is survived by his wife and one son, Hugh West, who is connected with the Bonham Wholesale Grocery Company as traveling salesman, and whose many friends here extend sincerest sympathy in this sad hour.
