William P. Dugan DEAD

Bells, Grayson Co., Tex., Nov. 23 - William P. Dugan, age 62 years, died this morning at his home one mile west of Bells.  Mr. Dugan was born and raised in Grayson County, Tex., and was one of the best known men in the county, being the oldest son of George C. Dugan, deceased, who was one of the first settlers of this county.
Mr. Dugan leaves four sons, who reside at this place, namely: George C. Dugan Jr., H.H. Dugan, D.D. Dugan Jr. and W.P. Dugan Jr.
No man in this community had more friends than did Mr. Dugan.  He was a member of the Methodist Church, Masons, Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias.  He was buried this afternoon in the North Bells Cemetery beside his wife, who preceded him about two years ago.

Pioneer Settler of Grayson County Passes Away - Well Known in Fannin County

Sherman, Texas, November 23 - William Preston Dugan, aged 62 years, a native of Grayson county and a prominent planter, died on the old homestead near Bells at an early hour this morning.  He was the son of George P. Dugan, deceased, and Harriet J. Dugan, who resides on North Travis street, this city.  His parents located on the grant of which the homestead is a part in the early part of 1849, about the time of the birth of William Preston Dugan, making the family among the oldest of the pioneer settlers of Grayson county, as it has been one of the foremost in the progress and development of t his section of Texas.
The deceased was a man of broad business connections and personal and fraternal assiciations.  He was a Mason, Odd Fellow, Knight of Pythias and a member of the Macabees and other kindred organizations.
His funeral services was conducted at the Bells Baptist Church at 3:30 this afternoon by the pastor, Rev. Mr. Fuller.  The burial was under Masonic auspices.
For many months Mr. Dugan had suffered from dropsy, which was the cause of his death.  He was survived by his mother, Mrs. Harriet Dugan of this city, and brothers and sisters, as follows: Dan Dugan and Mrs. George Shannon of Sherman; Mrs. Mollie Humphries of Ft. Worth and Ludie Hamburg of Arizona.  His 4 sons, G.P., H.H., P.D. and W.P. Dugan, Jr.
