Late Feb. - Early May 1893


Sherman, Texas, March 22 - At an early hour this morning, Ed Evans, fireman on the freight engine No. 166, was knocked from the gangway of his engine and hurled 100 feet down an embankment between Ector and Savoy on the Texas & Pacific RR about 20 miles east. He was carried to Bonham where he has a sister Mrs. Joe Ford where he died at before noon.
He was about 30 years old, sober, industrious, and frugal, having recently purchased a farm in Grayson County about 6 miles east of town. He was engaged to a young lady near Pink Hill where he has relatives and where his body will be buried tomorrow.
