GORDONVILLE GOSSIP
To the Democrat
Gordonville, Texas, December 16 -
Mrs. Eliza McDonnold, west of town, widow of the late J.W. McDonnold, died at her home last Saturday and was buried Sunday afternoon at the Allison cemetery, the funeral service being attended by a large congregation.  Mrs. McDonnold was one of the best known and most beloved women of this community and her passing casts a gloom over many hearts.  She was about 57 years of age and was a daughter of "Uncle Hi" Dennis, one of this county's oldest and best known citizens.  The children surviving her are Messrs. Lafayette, Ed and Thurman McDonnold; Mrs. Carrie Britt and Miss Mary McDonnald.  She also leaves the aged father, and several brothers and sisters to mourn her loss, among them being Mrs. Noland of Dexter, Mrs. W.J. Rich and Mrs. R.S. Armstrong of near here; Lafe Dennis of Dallas; James and Joe Dennis of this community; Henry Dennis of East Texas; and Hiram Dennis, Jr. near Orlenn.  A large number from this place attended the funeral service Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Collins, of this communiuty, one of our oldest well known citizens, died at her home Sunday morning and was buried near here Monday.  The news reaches us too late for us to give particulars or data of her life as these notes are written.  Mrs. Collins was the mother of Mrs. J.F. Collins, one of our farmer friends of near here.
