Michael was born on July 28, 1944 to Joseph and Mary Martinek-Faber of Dorchester. He was nominated into the All-Century Howe Bulldog team, End, 1961. He graduated Howe High School in 1962. He then attended East Texas State University. He later joined the army, serving in the Vietnam War; he received the National Defense Service Medal while working as a Radio Teletype Operator.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and cooking but most of all large family get-togethers. When cooking, his favorite saying was
"A recipe is only a guideline; they always need fixing." It brought him great enjoyment to listen to the stories of hunting and fishing from his children and his grandchildren.

After returning from Vietnam, he was an independent truck driver and later became the owner/operator of "Mike's Grocery, Sherman, Texas; The best $1.00 old fashion hamburgers in town," until he retired.
Mr. Faber is survived by his wife, Kathy Little-Faber; a daughter Misty and Douglas Lichnovsky, of Sherman; a son Joe Michael Faber and Ashley Liston, of Denison; a son John Faber and Elizabeth Ponder, of Tom Bean; a sister Jeannette and Bobby Scott; a sister Judy and Ronnie Whiteley; and a brother Rick and Donna Faber, all of Dorchester; 5 grandchildren, Michelle and Chandler Lichnovsky, Bryce and Kailynn Faber, and Alicia Liston, and one on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents; cousin, Marvin Jaresh; and Edward Collins, brother-in-law.
Services were held Monday at 10 a.m. at Waldo Funeral Home, with Dr. Lowell Howard officiating, of Cowboy Church of Savoy. Interment followed in Akers Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe and Justyn Davis, Rusty and Jeffery Collins, Kriss and Kody Ballard, Randy Faber and Dan Smith. Honorary pallbearers erre Bill Crumby and Freddy Holcomb. - - - Waldo Funeral Home
