Services for Forrest Wayne Gray, farmer/rancher and lifelong resident of Howe, were held Tuesday morning, August 31 at the First United Methodist Church in Howe.  Burial followed at Akers Cemetery with the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and Masonic Rites accorded by Howe Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Gray passed away August 28, 2010.
Mr. Gray was born May 12, 1927 in Howe to Forrest and Minnie Swindle Gray.  He attended Howe schools and the later attended Sherman Business College.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War and his community as a member of the Howe ISD Board of Trustees and Grayson County School Board.
Wayne was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Howe.  He was a 32nd degree Yorkrite Mason and Past Master of Howe Lodge #430.
He married Elma Joe Cain on July 31, 1948 in the Methodist parsonage.  They resided in the Howe community their entire 62 years of marriage.  He operated the Howe Fertilizer Plant for 12 years and was a first class Tin Smith.  He dearly loved his Howe Coffee Shop group and rarely missed a morning.
Mr. Gray was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clifton and Jim.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Gray, of Howe; his sons, Garry Gray and wife, Karla, of Howe; Lenny Gray and wife, Debbie, of Pilot Point; Joe Gray and wife, Honey, of Allen; grandsons, Allan and wife, Stephanie Gray, of West Lafayette, Indiana; Kevin and wife, Dawn Gray, of Cumby; Sean Gray of Howe; Brad and Melissa Gray of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Brent and Margot Gray of Pilot Point; and Chance Gray of Allen; his granddaughter, Chelsea and husband, Matt Farmer, of Allen; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Gray of Sherman; sister, Martha King of Duncan, Oklahoma; brother, Charlie Gray of Howe; sister, Joyce Gray of Howe; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who loved and respected him.
