1941- 2017


Boonie Earl Sanders went to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday, September 18, 2022 in Gainesville, Texas.    Funeral services were held Thursday morning, September 22, 2022 at Waldo Funeral Home.  Rev. Irby McKnight officiated. Private committal services were held at Akers Cemetery.
Boonie was born March 29, 1940 in Killeen, Texas, son of Carl and Frances Moore Sanders.
Boonie was a graduate of Oklahoma State University.  While attended college, he met the love of his life, De Ann Thomas.  They were married in Oklahoma City on July 31, 1964 and lived happily together until her passing in 2017.
Boonie taught High School Physics and Chemistry in Mill Creek, Oklahoma.  After moving to Texas he owned several businesses including Sanders Upholstery in Whitesboro.  The Canvas Shop at Grand Pappy Point Marina & BRD industries in Sherman, Texas.  He was a devoted follower of Christ and church member, serving in various ministries throughout his life.
Boonie is survived by his daughter, Daresa Sofey and husband, Jason, of Lake Kiowa; 2 sons, David Sanders of Sherman; and Daniel Sanders and wife, Shanda of North Richland Hills.  Four grandchildren: Adriane Sanchez and husband, Chad, of Aledo; and Will, Evan and Madeline Sanders of North Richland Hills; and 4 great-grandchildren, Alex, Sloane, Jed and Reese Sanchez of Aledo. - - - Waldo Funeral Home

Charlotte DeAnn "De" Sanders went to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center.   Funeral services for De were held Friday morning, July 14, 2017 at Waldo Funeral Home.   Rev. Irving lewis officiated.  Private committal services were held at Akers Cemetery .
DeAnn was born May 11, 1941 in Ft. Worth, Texas, daughter of Sam and Marjorie Brown Thomas.  On July 31, 1964, she married the love of her life, Boonie Sanders, in Oklahoma City.
DeAnn was an educator at heart.  She taught school for over 40 years and later worked helping adults get their GED.  She was also very active in jail ministry and passionate in her faith.  She attended Apostolic Pentecostal Church, in Sherman.
Mrs. Sanders is survived by her husband of 52 years; daughter Saresa Sofey and husband, Jason of Sherman; 2 sons, David Sanders of Sherman and Daniel Sanders and wife, Shanda, of North Richland Hills; 4 grandchildren, Adriane Sanchez and husband, Chad, of Ft. Worth; and Will, Evan and Madeline Sanders, all of North Richland Hills; and 2 great-grandchildren, Alec and Sloane Sanchez of Ft. Worth; and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
